Malang, July 2025 — A remarkable achievement has been made by Yuyun, a recent graduate of the English Education Department (PBI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA). Yuyun, who completed her undergraduate studies in 2024, successfully published her research as the first author in the Journal of English Language Teaching Innovations and Materials (JELTIM), Volume 7, Issue 1 (April 2025), a journal accredited in SINTA 2.
The published article, titled “Bridging Cultures and Classrooms: A Narrative Inquiry into Pre-service Teachers’ International Teaching Practicum Experiences”, is the result of an international research collaboration between UNISMA and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. The research team includes two faculty members from PBI UNISMA, Eko Suhartoyo, M.Pd., and Dr. M. Faruq Ubaidillah, along with Dr. Mazlen Arepin from UiTM.
This collaborative study was funded by the UNISMA Study Program Development Grant in 2023. The research was conducted while the team was in Malaysia in 2023, engaging in international academic and community service activities. Data analysis and manuscript preparation took place from late 2023 to late 2024, and the article was submitted in early 2025 before being officially published in May 2025.
The study explored the experiences of Indonesian pre-service teachers during their international teaching practicum in Malaysian Islamic schools, employing a narrative inquiry approach. The findings offer significant insights into the development of globally and interculturally responsive teacher education programs.
