Congratulations!
One of the English Language Education Department’s lecturers, Dr. M. Faruq Ubaidillah, has just obtained a doctorate degree from Yogyakarta State University specializing in English Language Education with Summa Cumlaude (GPA 4). M. Faruq Ubaidillah started his doctoral journey in September 2022 and completed his doctoral viva voce on September 30, 2024, under the supervision of Professor Erna Andriyanti and Professor Anita Triastuti. Faruq’s dissertation was examined by Prof. Joko Nurkamto, Prof. Sri Harti Widyastuti, Prof. Pratomo Widodo, and Prof. Ashadi.
His dissertation research discusses issues related to EFL teacher educators’ identity construction and development using narrative inquiry. This idea has been around in his mind since he earned his undergraduate degree. Faruq also has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. This achievement has marked the department’s vision to equip students with high-quality lecturers who are experts in their fields.
The event was then closed by a speech from the Vice Rector 3 of UNISMA, Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He advised the promovendus to immediately dedicate their knowledge to benefit the community and continue to produce innovative research and publications in scientific journals actively. For this achievement, he also thanked Yogyakarta State University which has contributed to producing new Doctors for the glory of UNISMA.
