UNISMA English Education Alumna Wins LPDP Scholarship to Study Master of TESOL in Australia

Malang, Indonesia – July 15, 2025 — Hainona Izza Golia, an alumna of the English Education Program (PBI) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA), has been awarded the prestigious LPDP scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in TESOL at Monash University, Australia. Remarkably, she earned the scholarship on her very first attempt.

Despite applying at the last minute and having modest expectations, Hainona succeeded in a highly competitive selection process. “I didn’t really expect to be selected,” she said, citing her busy academic commitments at UNISMA as the reason for the late submission.

A 2014 entrant to UNISMA, Hainona was known for her active involvement on campus. She served as Chair of the English Student Association (ESA) in 2017 and graduated as the university’s top student in 2018. After graduation, she worked as an ESL teacher at Orchids The International School in Mumbai, India, from 2019 to 2020.

Sharing tips for future LPDP applicants, Hainona advised students to take the first step seriously. “It’s not enough to want it—you have to act,” she said. She encouraged prospective candidates to visit the LPDP website, gather the necessary information, and ensure they have valid English proficiency certification that meets both university and LPDP requirements.

Reflecting on her journey, Hainona expressed deep gratitude to UNISMA, describing it as a second home that played a pivotal role in shaping her leadership, confidence, and academic success.

Hainona’s achievement highlights the global potential of UNISMA graduates and offers inspiration to students aiming for international academic opportunities.
